In May 2017, the international standards ISO 55000 and 55001 for standard-compliant asset management were translated into German.
ISO 55001 defines the requirements for an asset management management system.
The ISO 55001 management system provides a framework for establishing asset management policies, objectives, processes and control mechanisms and facilitates the achievement of the organisation's strategic objectives. ISO 55001 uses a structured, effective and efficient process that drives continuous improvement and ongoing value creation through the management of asset-related costs, performance and risk. ISO 55000 complements ISO 55001 by providing the overview, principles and terminology.
This standard focuses on the need for a management system and therefore does not specify financial, accounting or technical requirements for managing specific asset types.
